1986 Aod Shifting Problems

I HAVE A 1986 F-150 5.0 WITH AOD. FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO SHIFT I MUST BACK OF THE GAS. I HAVE TO DO THIS FOR EVERY GEAR. FLUID IS CLEAN, NOT MILKY AND NO METAL SHAVINGS. WHAT COULD THE PROBLEM BE?

I would think the governor in the trans is bad.
That is what the shop told me when mine did that.

Reference a shop manual for your truck, I think all it will need is "TV Cable Adjustment"

Im not going to try to desribe it here but rather let you find it in the service manual, or let someone else describe procedure
