[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Mar-02 AT 11:39 AM (EST)]Just thought I would see who has done theres over here. I did mine this past weekend and they turned out awsome!!! I really think that it is the best mod I have done to my truck (apperance wise) since I bought it. So lets hear it who has had the B@LLS to take a can of acetone to there 30 - 40 K truck
Edit: I am speaking of the f250 and V10 emblems.....
No pics yet but I plan on getting some this weekend. There are some pics over in "that other forum" (Ford-diesel.com) in the upgrades thread titled Acetoned emblems also. They really look good...
Been thinking about it but as you said don't know if I have the B@LLS. What kind of tape do you use (so no residue on paint) and how far out do you tape?
Looks like I'll be doing this, this weekend!! I like the look.
Use 3M tape from a colision supply store not the cheap stuff.
I will tape around emblem real tight then make a thin cardboard cutout and tape that on, then paper all the way down.
BE CAREFULL!!!! Don't over do it as so it will drip.
Use a small brush and have some rags handy.
Laquer thinner should give the same results, I would think.
Just be careful and watch the run off it will stay on the truck but you can wipe it off with a clean cloth with some acetone on it. The acetone will not take off the paint on the truck the clear coat is tuff stuff and can take the acetone as long as it is not rubed really hard. I dripped some on the paint and started to freak but is was fine and the paint is still as good as new. The main thing is to take you time and use good acetone from the paint supply section of the hardware store. Good luck once you do one you will see it is all worth it!!!!!
I have pics of mine check them out, was easy and the CHEAPEST mod I ever did.Less than $2.50
I just used plane masking tape and some paper to catch the spray from the tooth brush.Q-tips work great to.
Dont worry about the paint acetone takes the wax off but thats it I had a can of white spray paint blow up in tool box and run down side of truck
Huge mess I used acetone to wipe it off took some time but it all came off and then I rinsed it with water and reapplyed wax all looks fine..
I just did my emblems today. F-350 and powerstroke diesel. The PSD on the door was a little tricky with those little letters. I used regular masking tape, put like 3 pieces over and over again, used a 1/2 inch brush and just dipped it into a can of acetone like I was painting. Keep the brush in one hand and a rag in the other and it should go smoothly. Looks awesome!

I have come into this thread late and need more info. Does the acetone just take off the black? If so, will it leave the red XLT letters on the badge?
Thanks for your help.

I did mine last weekend. Before I did the F-350's on the fenders, I measured the XLT letters. A friend and I do some vinyl sign work on the side and cut out some new XLT's in red using brush script font instead of the plain block lettering. I like it better than having that area blank chrome.
