I'm hoping you guys can help me. I have a 1990 Bronco XLT with all power windows and locks. The problem I'm having is with both the locks and windows. The rear window used to only roll down with the dash switch. I replaced the switch and it works now, but it appears to work in reverse. When I press the arrow pointing up the window goes down and the down arrow raises it up. The switch did seem to work the same way before I replaced the switch. For my locks the drivers side switch will lock the door on the passenger side only. The passenger side also locks only the passenger side. But the switch here also seems to operate in reverse. The blue side locks the doors and the red unlocks. I know the actuator is probably bad on the drivers side but what would cause the switches to operate in reverse on both the locks and rear window??
I haven't hooked the battery up in reverse since I have owned the Bronco. Is there a way to correct the problem or just live with it since they do operate??
Doubel check your wiring to the switch on the dash. As for the door locks, I had somewhat the same prob and it turned out to be a broken wire in the rubber boot thing that goes from the door to the fender on the drivers side. That door is used more often so wiring can become brittle and break. If you have the haynes or chiltons manual, check it against the wiring diagram. Helps ALOT. I tried all sorts of different wiring on my door locks til I got out the diagrams and started tracing the power. The passenger side is the main circuit for the lock, then feeds the drivers door. Thats how I found my prob. If you dont have the diagrams...just repost and I will post a scanned pic of it here. I have the diagrams from 84 thru 96
