How many of you other guys have experienced this? I have had this on my last 3 pickups (2 gassers and 1 diesel). When its cold out and the truck is driven for the first time of the day. I swear my truck shifts from 1st to 2nd. 2nd to 3rd. and then from 3rd to a 3rd and a half so to speak. In other words if you watch the tach it looks like it sorta went into od but not quite. And then the crazy thing about it is if you continue on down the road for 3 or 4 miles it will then drop into what I consider normal O.D. She only does it when it is cold. After you got it warmed up every thing is normal. How about the rest of you guys
When the engine is cold the computer will keep the torque converter from locking up. This also helps to warm up the transmission. You are in OD but the TC has not locked which gives you that extra "shift" feel later when the engine warms up a bit and the TC locks up.
When I'm heading out for the first time of the day, I can tell when the tranny is warmed up enough for the TC to lock. It's at about the same stretch of road every day.
hey thanks to all of you gentleman that replied. I guess this pretty much of a normal thing. This site is awwwwwwwwwwwsome when it comes to gaining knowledge about your truck.
Thanks to all
