anybody out there put the old style long tube headers and a full set off duals on a 93 bronco? have a chance to pick up a new set cheap and was wondering how much of a pain in the butt going around the transfer case was. and if the off road package makes it any harder to do. any input would be great before i go and do something i may regret. thanks!
Not sure, but I think some peope say lomg tube headers don't make enough back pressure and that it will kill your low end torque. Don't take my word for it tho.
Ok, I am getting ready to do the same project on mine. The long tubes will work but you have to make some adjustments. As far as the backpressure goes you can make it work. You will have to get rid of your Y pipe to use these headers. So, what you need to do is weld in a cross pipe about mid way through exhaust setup to connect your true dual setup. This will solve your backpressure problem. Some other issues you need to think about are your A.I.R. pipe leading off your passenger side exhaust manifold. You will have to weld in a bung that will allow you to install that pipe to lead to your EGR vavle. You will need to do the same thing to install an O2 sensor. You may also have to curve the driver's side pipe around the transfer case to take care of clearance issues. This is what I have found out while trying to figure out if this setup will work. I am sure others will add more. Good Luck!
yea i figured all the sensors, the thing i was trying to figure out was whether to go around the transfer case mounting bracket or through. it looks like there's room to go through, but i don't want to cook anything. i only have the stock exhaust on now, or should i say what's left of it(i love ny) and was going to go with a set of glass packs.(i know flow masters are better, but i love the sound of glass packs) thanks for the help, i'm used to working on 2whd so this is a new challenge. next adventure is to tear into the t-5 in my stang!
