Hey i was wondering if anyone has bought a set of pacesetter long tube headers? I was thinking about getting a set for my 05 f150 with a 5.4. And what did you do about the rear o2 senors because I am not going to be running any cats. Thanks for any help.
For what its worth.... I have never seen a set of Pacesetters that did not look like they were welded by first semester trade school students. I would stay waaaaay away from them.
well i am darn sure that i am not going to spend 1300.00 for Dynatechs headers. Second of all I am certified structural and pipe welder. My friend bought a pacesetter header for his austian heaely and the welds werent great but they will do for a header. His fit perfect so i figured i would ask around about them. And hey they are only 518.00 and they are ceramic coated and include the y pipe.
What are you going to due about the Y pipe? You cannot run the stock unit with anyones long tubes. Why no cats? Modern catalytic convertors do not take any appreciable power, compared to years past. Plus they help the world... and high flow units keep your legal (and help resale value). Just something to mull over.
There was an article on this site awhile ago about the long tube header install. If memory serves me correctly, it consisted of the header , y-pipe, and high flow cat install and required programming to keep the MIL off. It netted something like 30 more horsepower and cost in the $1800 range for everything. It really didn't seem like a very efficient way to go in terms of cost-benefit.
The pacesetter headers come with a matching y pipe. And plus with no cats it will sound alot better. Every car or truck that I have removed the cats from it has sounded soo much better. Expect for my bros honda lol I wanted to put the cat back on after i got done . Oh yea and i live in Oklahoma so we dont have smog checks.
