its think its a 71 or mabye late 60's scout that my friend has, removable top, similer looking to the early 70's broncos. has a 302cj, runs strong, ok body, needs paint, pretty good looking interior, 3 speed manual, needs new tranny. he wants 700 plus he could get me a new tranny for free, what y'all think?
there is also a 69 bronco repainted with a 300 six in it, 3500 i could prolly talk him down to 3000
You said it had a 302......that is a Ford engine. Scouts had a 304, 345, and 392 i believe. If that is a 302 ford engine I'd buy both , put the 302 in the Bronco and sell the scout for whatever you can get for it. Scouts are Hard to find Body parts for and usually kinda pricey. Bronco parts are alot easier to find and bronco's will hold their value better than a scout........s.kuteman
BAbahaagaghahahah......take out a 300 and put a 302 in instead, hahahhahah.....wow, i really needed that laugh today. buy the bronc, leave the 300 in it, and you will never have another engine problem again, and in an EB, oh man, that a set up. ill trade ya if you get it.
the scout you are talking about is probably a 1970, it was the only year they had a V8 in the sount 800/80 series. it shoudl be a 3 speed plus a low gear. and it had a 304 in it. buddy is going to by one thats been taken apart for 400$, but its in nice shape...the peices that is.
Originally posted by Like M. Fords I have always heard that the Scouts had weak suspension components and axles compared to the early Broncos.
we have a 73, the front springs need new bushings, and thats about it, the scouts are bullet proof, they come stick with a boxed frame, D44 up front. basically the same everything as an F150 of htat era, some of the earlier ones had many axle issures, we had a 66 and the first thing to go was the rearend.....but the broncos are just sweet!!!......im partial to ford though. but man, a EB with a 300, junp all over that!

Scout motors will last a very long time if taken care of. They have the potential of lasting 300,000 miles. A Ford 300 six is also a good motor. I have heard of spring problems with Scouts.
We have a 1975 International Travelall (1/2 or 3/4 ton...I cant remember) with the 392 V-8 in it. Let me tell ya...parts for it are going to be SCARCE!! (We're doing a resto on it now)
this IS a 302 ford,
yeah dunno about the scout but he will sell me the 302cj for 500 bucks.
the bronco is pretty pricey for what shape it is in, hood is in horrible condition (dents on the edge ect.) doesnt have very good floorboards, the 300 -6 is extremely clean, when this scout was running, i have seen it lay a 35 foot smoky burnout, its a hell of a motor but like y'all have said, parts are scarce for them things.
I had a 77 Scout II
It was a great truck. It had a 345, 4 speed (t 18?) and dana 44s front and back. I couldn't break it if I wanted to. This thing was a tank.
The 300 I6 is a great motor. If it can live in my f600 it should last forever in a bronco.
I had a couple old scouts a 68 and a 69. The think was awsome in the bush. It had factory lockers front and back, and something like 4.88 gears. Twin stick T-case wase nice to. The armstrong steering sure gave you a work out with the front locker.
