You can get a 3.5" ss from hypermax. I dont believe most places advertise 4" down pipes for the earlier PSDs but most muffler shops can get a hold of them. From all i have talked to your going to have to get out a mash hammer and do some beating on the firewall for the 4" to clear. On the new trucks the firewall angles back for added room.
Im going with the 3.5" because not i or anyone is going to start beating the crap out of my rig to get 5 or less more horespower.

Just a thought

Check here www.bankspower.com . Do yourself a favor, go with a 3.5" downpipe. Anything bigger you need extensive mods to the firewall. Even the 3.5" is going to be snug at the bottom of the firewall. I agree with bryddog that the bigger size is not worth it for minimal horsepower gains you will see. Bigger is not always better in this case.

I don't think it does any good to increase the diameter of your down pipe if you don't increase the diameter of the entire exhaust (down pipe all the way out). I am basing this opinion off of flow dynamics so I think the theory is sound.

I saw a guy the other day that actually had the vertical stacks coming up each side of a SD (like the big rigs). It kind of looked cool.
