2000 V-10 Ex Cab. Long bed I have Rear anti lock brakes, and I have had every part replaced on them twice, the control box, the first time they replaced it they installed one for 4 wheel anti lock, the valve body that is connected to the control box yes twice, and like 5 differnt sensors. The probelm was the abs light would come on once and awhile and when it was on the breaks would lock up. They seem to finally of fixed that, but this is what happens to me. I will T-Totally lock up the brakes on loose ground and the truck acts like no breaks at all I would think that the front brakes would kick in a little bit and try to bring the beast to a halt but it's like I don't have any fronts at all. The guy at the ford garage said its because The brakes are operated buy the power steering pump and if I am turning when I break it steals the power away from the brakes. I don't buy it does it when I'm going straight too. What is the best way to check the front brakes?
I have had the same problem happen to me, but while towing and heading down hill. The ruts that often form at stop lights would cause the front end to become airborn momentarily which would allow the front wheels to rapidly decelerate. The ABS system then cuts out the braking for what seems to be quite a long time. Then I hit the net rut and it happens again. Pretty much I felt like I had no brakes.
It can get pretty scary.
2000 F250 4x4 v10.
I wish there was a way to turn off the ABS because the time lag is too long. I feel that there is a design issue.
I have also had a similar experience driving an ambulance in wet weather.
The '00 F250 that I used to own exhibited the same issues that you guys are seeing. The light would come on and it would "lose" brakes when stopping at a slighty rough intersection. That truck also had the control module and sensor replaced in addition to the wiring being checked a couple of times. I've also read other complaints- mostly from owners of 2000 models.
Conversely, my '01 F350 with 4-wheel ABS stops perfectly. I have never experienced the loss of brakes... even at the same intersections as with the F250.
The right front brake grabs harder than the left side.
Eventually the brake just applied itself to the point the truck had to be steered to the left to go straight. It became so bad the right front brake started smoking and the alloy wheel was very hot to the touch. A sticking caliper maybe.
Midas had done a brake job at 63,000 and they told me that the rotors cannot be turned because the entire hub assembly on a 4X4 must be removed to get the rotor off.
I found out later this was not true. Maybe the tech didn't have enough strength to remove the caliper mounting bracket bolts. I used a breaker bar and retorqued to 200 ft lbs.
I was told that the calipers needed replacing, so I bought two reman calipers from A Cardone, two new rotors and new pads. After I installed all these parts, the right front brake still applies with more force than the left front.

Since you replaced the calipers and such...I would suspect a bad brake line. There could be blockage in the line (or the line interior collapsed), which can cause the fluid to be trapped in the caliper, and not return to the MC.
As far as ABS...I hate it! My '97 had RWABS, which I promptly disabled after it nearly cost me to roll upside down into an 8' mudhole. I will never have ABS on any of my vehicles.
