Clutch pedal issue

Clutch pedal issue
When I press on the Clutch I hear a popping noise.. It happens during the first inch of travel.. If I press slowly it doesn't do it as much..
Brought it to the dealer to have them check it out and the mechanic thinks it is the clutch rod that goes through the firewall is loose or something broke..
They can't work on it until Tuesday so he really hasn't fully checked it out..
Anyone else have this happen or have any ideas on what it could be?
The truck shifts fine otherwise

I was going to say the pivot shaft (on the clutch pedal rod), but it's a fairly new truck.
Even so, the bushing may have been a POS to begin with.

Yes, but I was talking about the pivot shaft bushing - where the pedal connects to the clutch pedal mounting bracket....which I'm sure is called another technical name that's unredneck...
