Rear anti-lock?

So when I put the key over to the on position all the dummy lights come on like they are supposed to and turn off. One of them says rear anti-lock. When I first got my truck I thought it meant that I had anti-lock brakes so I slammed on the brake pedal and believe me, all I saw was smoke and tire marks. That kind of gave me a little clue that they are not anti-lock. So what does that dummy light mean? Mine is not on but I do always wonder.

actually u do have rear anti-lock breaks. that I believe is since our rear end are lighter (especially on pick-ups) so this should help prevent the rear from spinning around during hard breaking.

The light comes while I am sitting still or driving braking or no braking. Its not just coming on while braking. I think the sensor gets wet and the water some how shorts the sensor out? The ligth will stay on and goes off when ever it feels like it.

i don't know if this will help but at one time my rear antilock light just stayed on. never had any braking problems tho. however i was removing some speaker wires and had to remove the threshold plate on the drivers side. there i saw a wire burned into. i spliced the wires back together with a connector and the light went out. easy fix for me.

Mine stays on all the time, and that is because the top of the sensor is broke off at the axle, I just put a piece of black tape over it.

I can't remember if mine started after I replaced the rear fuel pump or before. if it started after then I may have damaged the sensor. One day I will get under there and look. No breaking problems what so ever ewith my truck either.

I don't think the rear ABS is working on my 90. The light doesn't come on either. It comes on initially at startup and goes off after a second like its supposed to. I have hammered the brakes a few times and it didn't seem like the ABS did anything.

Is the rear ABS system on the Broncos a dog?
