Thanks guys...tapped waterpump bolt holes as my sheared off problem...OK everything back together and I am right back where I started.
5.0 LT 302 ....new starter, new alternator, new celinod, battery is fine.
Got no turnover...when I turn the key on I have a whirring noise under the truck. Thought it was the starter. NO but there is a round object on truck frame and that is where it is coming from. Is this the fuel pump and if so won't the truck turn over but not start?
Maybe it is garage time.....as a beginner..I guess I picked the right vehical...I am always working on it.
If it won't turn over then you have a prob with the starter, solenoid, battery, ignition switch or the wiring in between. If the whirr is coming from the round can with the fuel lines hooked to it - yes that is the fuel pump. check to see if when ign switch is in start position do you have 12v at the small solenoid connector? Also check at the starter small connector for 12v. Not sure what year? I think most will have a solenoid on the starter that will have batt cable and small wire. The small wire is the "trigger" to activate the starter. Just had to repair one recently, the wire was cooked from the exhaust manifold and would intermittent not work. HTH
