How about "Fringe Topics" or "Oddball Stuff"

"relationships"(sic.), politics, and religion- that name for a forum would be a nice way of calling it a Pig Pen also.

I disagree. A man can certainly be defiled also by what goes into his mouth

Oh, sure, leave it up to a CANADIAN!! I should have known that some #$%&#$*! Canuck was responsible for all this mess! And I'll bet YOU'RE the one that started talking here about religion and politics!! And ANOTHER thing you no-good, rotten, so-and-so...........

Aaaaah, the good old days. Just what was so good about them?

And now MY apologies to anyone that thought I was serious (which I only am when it comes to spending your money at the New Truck Buyer forum). I just thought we needed to lighten up a little, that's all.

Not a problem... I just paraphrased Jesus' statement in

Matthew 15: 16-20

16 So Jesus said, "Are you also still without understanding?
17 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.
20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."

Hey Chevy Hater - how come you didn't share. I'd like a couple of e-males. I just won't tell Steve that I got them, he gets jealous.

Kinda makes you wonder, huh?

There seems to be alot of strange things going on around here...Andy has developed more than two eyes and CT hasn't shown up...wonder if Andy waylaid him and took that one eye?

What further damage can we bear with the Pig Pen gone!?

The pig pen was closed due to abuse, and the fact that it has nothing to do with Ford Trucks, it was atracting fringe members, that were abusing the forums, and they have nothing to lose, they will simply move on and attempt to destroy other forums. This is my opinion.

Then, Matt, why is GC even open? Not one topic (ok there might be one or two) have anything to do with Ford trucks. Ken should close down them both if the arguement is that they dont' pertain to Ford trucks, IMHO.

It has been spoken of already, but I will repeat it. Religous and political issues are a volatile mix, so I dont think any forum ,whether it be called pig pen or jaw slop, will be conducted mildly with those topics in it. With a forum like PP, I can see where the cost of bandwith would be a major issue for sure. There are some real windy topics in PP, and I was one blowing a lot of it on some topics..
I havent seen anyone lately put in writing, but I will come out and say it, FTE forums have become a form of social life for the posters. Now along with that, one will have to acknowledge the fact that anytime two or more people that arent living together converse, there can be bad interactions. That issue is worsened on the net, because typing a opinion or feeling out on a screen, just doesnt always come across, like it would if you were seeing the persons facial expressions. I think that is a major contributor to some of the sparks on flame throwers out here.
I enjoy most of the forums here, and I think PP is a very good one for those of us getting "long in the tooth". Speaking for myself, I find myself a bit out of touch communicating with twenty year olds, were just to many miles apart to be on the same page. I find a lot of 40 + posters on PP, with a LOT of good, mentally stimulating conversation. I read these forums for knowledge and getting to learn about other peoples life experiences, not for mechanical work, I have mechanic buddies and manuals for that.
I wonder if it would help to make it a requirement to be a member of FTE to post on the GC and PP. I would be willing to pay 20 bucks a year to have a social bar to pull up a stool to, without all the smoke and loudmouths around me, just my keyboard. . The annual fees would help pay on bandwidth, and a driveby wouldnt be able to drop a flame. I also like the idea the others have of a 300 post minimum, at least the 300 count poster would have been posting long enough for most to get to know where they are coming from on their opinions.
I dont know the legistics of the extra data/programming that would be required, but for those afraid of the adult content of the PP content, maybe the requirement of a independant sign-in/password might keep the wee ones from reading the posts. And if the adult signed in and doesnt like what they are reading, they just need to click the close button, simple. In summing up here, maybe if the threads werent allowed to get to such a high post count might help, it seems when just about all that there is to say about something has been said, sometimes people post in a agitative manner just to get some new jazz to the thread. enuff said, I hope PP survives, if it or GC either one doesnt, well, life will go on, it was before and it will after. all jmho,

de0806, you bring up a good point that I think has been overlooked. It's possible for a member to be registered for a "long" time and not have a large number of posts. Maybe "time as a member" would be a better filter. Once you have been registered 30 days, you can use the Pig Pen. There again discouraging one hit wonders and drive by posters. I joined Club FTE because I wanted to financially support this site. I agree completely with greg79 f150 that this is a social place and I consider the $15.00 annual membership to be a bargain. Heck, you'd pay more than that for a magazine subscription and it wouldn't be as much fun. By the way, how expensive is this bandwith everyone's talking about? Can someone put a dollar amount to it?? Thanks, Jeff

I like FTE...the community here, the people that can help you with anything. I like to offer help when I can. But like many have said....I don't know that I would stay around NEAR as much without the GC and PP. If your truck aint broke....why do you need to discuss how to fix it? I enjoy "talking with the guys", guys and girls that are likeminded in the passion for Ford Trucks. While I like to help others with their truck problems...and likewise like to have mine answered....their comes a point where if thats all we do, then unless you got a lemon...you wouldn't frequent much. Its been great getting to know the guys on here and their different point of views....its not only helped me understand mine more, but opened up my mind to other possibilities. (who'd a thought it on a truck site?) but that's why I keep coming back. I'm sure you have more thinking to do about this...I'm sure more ideas need to be tossed around...but I'm sure somewhere in it all will lie a good solution - a solution that will allow this community of Ford Truck owners to continue to be a community able to discuss many topics (some truck related and some not). Ken you have a great site...and I don't want it to turn into trash, but I do think that the PP has contributed to the site in a positive way. I agree...by naming it PP, maybe it kinda sets the tone. I thought from the beginning that it had kind of a negative connatation. Maybe if you named it Coffee House...or Barber shop or something where people get together to discuss everyday life it wouldn't get so "tense". thanks, keep up the good work....and hope you guys come out with a solution to the PP.

PS. good post Waxy...and I don't think your the only one to blame.

Personally, I hope we can find some way that the PP will facilitate a Forum for strong debate without name calling and flaming. I know I made some lame brained posts and maybe some intelligent ones as well. I don't really care for the long, drawnout threads that just seem to go on forever. But , i thourghly enjoy a good, strong, adult argument.
.........I'm still waiting for the GHost of CT Fuzzy to show back up in some disguised format. I kinda miss what he had to say. Very intelligent fellow actually and there are many more here abouts as well..........s.kuteman

Heres my nickles worth, some people just don't get it, Ken & others are very serious about this. Some one started a thread that belonged in PP,here in G.C. after they had read this, to all others PLEASE DONT START THREADS THAT BELONG IN PIG PEN !and DON'T RESPOND to threads that belong in P.P. here in G.C.
till its been resolved.
Maybe i,m too new here say these things, but i have been surfing & reading FTE for quite awhile.and it is the best & cleanest web site that i have visited,i recomend this place to other people, whenever possible,it has alot going for it.you can not place a value on the people & info that is avaible here. i would like to see pp reopened but as it was pointed out by fisher of man, a name change might help, as to the other changes that have been mention, their are plus's & minus'es on each ideal, i have faith in Ken & others to find a solution, lets show respect by giving positve feedback & ideas and stating why Pig PEN should be reopened....
