Dealership kindness
TIA
I would also make sure that you get a copy of the results of any emissions tests performed so that way you can draw your own conclusions as to what needs to be fixed, and who's going to fix it.
You also might try running your own codes before you bring it in to the dealer to see if your truck's computer has any DTCs stored in memory. The CEL does not have to be on for a trouble code to be stored.
On another note, they can inspect it but have to let me authorise before they perform any work and i get a printout of what failed so i can take it wherever i want to get it fixed.
1994, they need to do an exhaust emmissions test then put a new sticker on it,i'll take it over when it's not raining and he said i can take it wherever i want to get it fixed in case anything is wrong so it looks like i'll take it over tomorrow if it quits raining.
I was born at night but not last night,or was i ?.
Thanks

I would not let that dealer touch the truck. Take it somewhere else for the emission sticker.
............
the inspection costs $40. and there gonna do it for free with no oblications to fix it.
87 XLT,
In Calif its the sellers responsibility to make sure a vehicle will pass emissions. Check the law in your state.
.............
From what i found so far,the dealer can sell it without any fixes,i bought it "as is-no warranty".
bigrigfixer,
If your sticker is still good for a couple months, wait until then to get it re-stickered.
................
If i wait til the last minute then get it inspected and it fails,i can get tickets if i drive it,this way i have some time to fix or get it fixed.

I know it's a little rich at start-up in the mornings and that's probably normal but i have bought new plugs, wires. After i bought it we started checking it out and found the right motor mount is broken,so i got both mounts, the left one don't look the greasest but it's still good.We also noticed the water pump has just started a small drip so we got a new one .I took off the AIC and my son cleaned it with berryman's and told me it wasn't very dirty. We also noticed the power steering return hose has a small leak and we have one of those to.
I like the truck with fancy wheels and tires and have been wanting one for a long time but these trucks sell like gold,it started out at $4400. firm but i managed to get them down to $3810. (what an odd figure) after hard negotioations ? but they made a mistake, they wouldn't do the paperwork that night so i drove it home.Next morning i started having feelings about it on the way back so i pulled into a parking lot and crawled under it,iand saw oil on the pan and auto,i called my son and he said it couldnt be that bad but i still wanted it.When we got to the dealership i told them i didn't want the truck and after they wanted to know why i told them and after some discussions they asked me how much would it cost to get it fixed,i called my son and he said it could cost as much as $500. They went inside, then came out and asked me if they dropped the price another $500. would i still take it,i said i think i would so i drove it back home and a little happier.Even if it costs the $500. to get it fixed i think i still got a hell of a bargain. My son is a mechanic (part time work)and takes care of me pretty damm good, all the work will be done this weekend plus checking out the electrics in the door.
Thanks for the input to all.
