F150 frame problems??

Saw my bud today at work(FOMOCO)as he was coming in on the day shift. Told him I was getting ready to order my truck and he told me a friend of his works at the local Lincoln/Mercury dealer across the street from a Ford dealership and that this dealership had four F150's w/ broken frames. I'm just wondering if anyone else has heard anything about this. I know I haven't and I'm still prolly going to order one. Now I don't want to start no flame wars or anything like that, and I know there was talk back before the trucks started coming out about a supposed "frame problem" that no one ever proved. All I know is that I *mostly trust* his word as I hired in with him over 7 years ago and he builds and races his own cars. He drove an F250 himself before the wife took it in a divorce. I will be calling the dealer later today and asking them if they know anything, maybe even go up there. Take it for what its worth.....

Ron

your best bet will to be talking to one of the service technicans, not the service advisor or a sales person.

One dealership....having 4 broken (not bent) frames....heard it from your buddy....Hmmm.

Unless these trucks were severely abused....

This may have some merit, I ordered a New S-Crew Lariet 3 weeks ago from Largest Dealer in Missouri. I called and talked to the guy who does the orders and he said that Ford will not schedule S-Crew Builds right now for some reason, at least for next couple of weeks.

Also said they had been limited to 30% S-Crews.

Also said still a problem with Tubular Running boards, but they can get them through parts so he has been deleting them offf the orders and just adding them when they come in.

Let me point something out here........
the CREW CAB is the ONLY F150 with the 139" wheelbase. Do you all think there *might* be a possible flaw in that SOLE frame?
The Supercabs are on 145" or 133" wheelbases depending on bed length.
The regular cabs are on 126" or 146" wbs again dep. on bed length.
163" wbs are for the supercabs with longbeds and heavy-duty payload packages.

Is it POSSIBLE, that the 139" (Crewcab ONLY) frame is the one of concern? I REALLY do not wish to overly-concern ANYONE.....but maybe THAT is it. I'm not getting a Crew, so I'll go with that reasoning for now.

Hmmmm

No. But it's a good way to get rumors started.

I have no idea why you would go with that reasoning jcreality. It's not justified IMO. There could be 1,000 reasons why production of the Super Crew's are not being scheduled right now....if that statement is true. Maybe they need to catch up on Super Cabs or Regular Cabs? Maybe production of the rear door handles is behind? Maybe Ford is playing the supply and demand game?

Not scheduling production is much different than stopping production. And allocating dealers to 30% of one model isn't that uncommon. Tubular running boards? Obviously behind on production.

I see no reason to jump to conclusions, especially given the validity of information.

I think if something was wrong with the frames we would have heard something on the net by now...I visit lots of truck forums and have yet to read anything about a frame problem...more than likely, the 4 trucks in question have a vibration issue or smth else and the truth got misconstrued... atleast that's what I hope

Didn't thet supposedly hold back several of the first trucks out because of a supposed frame problem ?

My dealer called back and said that it's want scheduled because they were running some promotion units and there is a shortage of the Tube Board and DVD. He said supply us tight on the Crews anyway.

The frame problem concerns me, but I would have to have more
information for it to hold much weight.

Cruel Crew,
I *knew* that'd be 'cruel' to have such questioning for ANY crewcab interestees.....and I did not by any means wish to start any rumors. Honestly? It was an innocent question that came from my inquiring mind. Just wondering if these 'other' issues of heresay had ONLY to do with the Crewcabs, and if they have ANY basis at all.....because I've NOT ONCE heard of any of such challenges. Until reading this thread, it never had a chance to even cross my mind as the remotest of possibilities.
If there was just ONE verifiable such challenge on another wheelbase, I'd be MORE than happy to let that thought be killed on the spot. I have no clue the actuality whether any of this has been 'seen' or 'heard of' in reality.....and I prolly should have put a disclaimer in there.
Sorry to come across wrong or harsh somehow. I was just asking.
