Unhappy V-10 Trouble

My truck has started missfireing..... will not pick up rpm. seems to me like it isn't running on all 10 cyclinders. i am Bringing it to the dealership tomarrow it has 33,014 miles. So it will hopefully be free. I have been reading the forums for a longtime and are very helpful.. i just registered today. From what i have gathered it could be water in the a couple coilpacks, but it is freezing here where i live and water under the hood has never caused a problem before. At the moment i do have a small exhaust like a am running a flowmaster 40series delta flow, I do not think this is related to the problem. Anyone have any other sugestions on what would cause this "missfiring"? I order the banks headers, a stainlesshighflow cat, stainless flomaster muffler, and diablo chip.
I recieve my lift kit a week ago. i have 4" bds syspension lift installed. I now have all the pieces for front and rear dual shocks, front shackle and hanger, 8" rear springs, and all nessicary stearing components.ohhh also stainless brake lines. I hope my baby is better after tommarrow. i want to install my new toys. I am running a bfg 315/75/16r tire on the stock 16 by 7 rim. The tires seem to be wearing normal has anyone one else had trouble running an improper tires size on improper rim width?

i hope the dealer doesnt try and turn you away or make you pay b/c of your mods.

it does sound like a it could be a coil, but there are a bunch of other things it could be. keep us filled in.

After the trip to the dealership (and if you are not satisfied) and If the moderator does not move you to the V10 forum, I suggest you post there so we can get a few more guys on it.

Let us know and welcome to FTE!

You could use autozone to find out which cylinders are misfiring ,if the dealer tries some to make you pay.

I don't think this needs to be moved alot of us are here also.

It sounds like you know how to wrench these things, suggest you get a good manual and have at it if the dealer plays the game with you.

Stop pulling stumps with that thing!

Seriously, that is a bummer. Is everything mangled and you gotta get a new engine or is it crank only? Have you owned it since new? Manual tranny or auto? Heavy towing? How did it go down?

I can't believe it cost me 510 dollars to get my truck off thier lot. It still doesn't run. they showeded me fuel samples that leed me to believe somone spiked my tank. Ford charge me like $440 labor and 60$ parts to change fuel regulator and fuel filter.I got screwed there. Tonight i will drop tank. inspect-replace pump, clear lines. i will have to clear injectors and fuel rail. I will probibly have to re replace the parts ford replaced. It is a bummer..wish i know who..... i would let some urine ferment fora month or tow and pour it down thier air vents. the fuel samples look like a muddy cakemix mixture. I have 1200 in suspension to install and a truck the doesn't run.

Do you think it is fair ford charded me for labor when they old me at the desk when i dropped it off it would probibly be warrenty? it too the tech 30 min to install new filter regulator... i'd i paid for that. I ish i could have laid a strip in the lot but i just barely rolled away.

Sorry for all your waisted time

Why did you pay anything if it wasn't fixed..? You should always say call me with a diagnosis first and don't go over $100.00 unless I authorize the work. They should have drained the tank minimum. I mean if they didn't drain the tank I would go back there and scream bloody murder. And why would they give it back if it wasn't fixed. What kinda show are they running...Demand your rights!!!!!!!!common sense..

i shouldn't have paid..... my truck was there and it was bull****. I am just hoping when i drop my tank that it is just sand. if i drop the tank the the tech just showed me fuel that camed from the dirtyside of the filter i will not be impressed. i am thinking aftermarket pump, regulater and injectors warrenty is no longer a concern. $1100. i will right back with how it goes....i will probibly do it this weekend i am broke as a joke.

Similar problem several months ago. Would lose all power above 1800 rpm. Limped it to the dealer. Dealer had it for 5 days and couldn't figure it out. Replaced coil packs, wires, plugs, sensors, etc. under emissions warranty (44k mi.). Still ran lousy. Had good fuel pressure but low volume. Said my tank appeared to be damaged from off roading and I must of damaged my fuel pickup and/or pump. I explained to the idiot service writer that the marks on the plastic tank are from the roto-mold process! not off-roading! They wanted $2400 to replace tank, fuel pump, etc. I politely declined and took my truck home. Changed the fuel filter and it ran good for about 2 minutes. Light bulb goes on in my head!!! Dealer said good fuel pressure but low volume. That means a restriction of some sort. Dropped the tank, removed the top cap, saw a silvery sheen in the fuel. Remembered finding a Cactus Cooler bottle with silver liquid in the bed a few weeks earlier. My tank had been spiked with Alumaseal radiator sealant! Flushed thoroughly, cleaned pump and screen, changed filter, added $15 locking gas cap. Not a hiccup 10k miles later.

Maybe I'm the idiot

I dunno, I got the tank off and pump out. upon 1st inspection tank looks free of any serious contamination. After inspecting pump there is a bag filter and a smaller screen on the bottem. the bag seemed brand new. the smaller screen has alittle gunk in it. i wonder if you can buy these 2 componants seperatly. the new pump was around 450 dollars. It makes me question if injectors is the problem. i drove it yeserday and i am now down to 2 cylinders and could hardly get it in garage. Maybe the right corse of action would have been stp fuel injector cleaner. i was sure i would find a alot more in the tank. since i am this far i am going to clear lines and remove injectors. I'll probebly ruin half of them removing them to find ford dealerships are incompetent but atleast they can spell better then me. i am going to eat and get back to work.

I wouldn't pull the inj unless you know for sure that you don't have fuel psi....Check that pump b4 it goes back in..Sparks and gas don't mix.B careful...Chances are that the filter would have caught everything.....Don't guess...I will walk you through it if need be..
