I live in San Diego and it seems that most people with fords go with ProComp lifts. However on this site i am seeing a lot of people with FabTech. So far I have noticed that fabtech seems to be a bit more expensive, are there more differences than that?
Those of you with lifts, any feedback would be appreciated (perhaps another company?).
all the name brand lifts should be similar. there may be some goods and bads about each of them, but they should all be for the most part quality stuff.
pro-comp is a 4 wheel parts brand.... i think they used to call in genuine suspension... from what i have heard, that was junk (but i have no first hand experience). on the other board, many ppl complain constantly about the pro-comp stuff sagging.... any lift you put on will sag a tad, but these kits seem to be worse?
fabtech is good stuff.... very few complaints on their systems and issues seem to be resoved by the manufacture consistantly. fabtech is a huge name in the 2wd arena and have made quite the name for themselves recently in the 4wd arena. i have their kit and like it a lot!
if i had it to do all over... i would have gone to national spring.... they are local to san diego, so you might want to check them out..... they can go from mild to wild (20+ inches) and i have only heard the best about them.... more expensive than the rest, but usually you get what you pay for.... my second choice would be fabtech. (reasoning here is i wish i had just started with a 15-18 inch lift! ).
I went with super lift, I have used them before and liked there product, I have used skyjacker also in the past and had good luck with them. I know fabtech is engineered well, I have their double shock mounts and they are real nice.
I have never had pro comp parts and none of my friends have ever used them either, I have read that they aren't the greatest, so I didn't want to chance it.
When your dealing with the SD lift there is only one part that is fabricated, the track bar drop bracket ,this must be a quality piece or your axle will move side to side , other than that, its' all in the springs.
I have super lift springs with the track arm bracket, skyjacker sway bar links and skyjacker shocks with the fabtech double mount.
No one ever said you can't mix and match your parts and pieces!!
Bottom line..I would go fabtech over pro comp, based on what I have read and from others expierences.
I have a Fabtech lift and am very pleased with it as well. I would personally go with the Fabtech kit over the Procomp. I have also heard that some components of the procomp lifts are junk.
But as Abendx said.

I just personally would go with Fabtech.
on the other

This is one of the reasons I went with the Fabtech kit was that their springs weren/t supposed to sag and if they happend to, it would be very minimal (unnoticable).
>if i had it to do all over... i would have gone to national
>spring.... they are local to san diego, so you might want to
>check them out.....
I too would go with National if I had to do it again for the simple fact that I could get a custom spring that wasn't as stiff as the "off-the-self" kits.
I guess I must be one of the lucky ones in the bunch because my pro comp has not given me any problems as of yet (5000 miles). The install was easy and the ride is ok for a 6.5 in lift, plus the price was right and it came with all springs. But as stated before all the kits are about the same they all have there differences and problems. Just my .02...
