Check this thread for an additional discussion on this. Apparently, there are some additional sensors. If the ABS light goes off after you crank the truck, but comes back on once it moves, my guess it's still the speed sensor......maybe the connector or wires.
That thread sounds awfully farmiliar. I'll have to try the foot on the brake pedal deal and maybe wash the truck and try to clean some of the brake dust and grime away from the pick ups on the rotors!! THANKS AGAIN to everyone!!!!!!!
So far replaced the rear diff sender, cleaned the batt. terminals, no neons, pulled the front brakes to clean the sensors and "star wheels", still got the light, doesn't sound like the "pump" runs at check up now... did the foot on the brake at start up trick, and light stays out until pedal is released, don't have to roll, just let foot off brake and light comes on!
Just wanna tell everyone on this board, THANKS very much for the advice and assistance. Have yet to get the truck in for a scanning, but I really appreciate the help and hints I got here! THANKS VERY MUCH!!!!
I don't know if you're able to get to the module (I'm not sure exactly where it is) but I imagine you have a bum solder at the module...that's what my problem was.
I will for sure try to check the connections at the module. If nothing else, I'll be bringing it up to the technician who scans it also if I don't get it myself prior to handing it off to them. A BIG Thanks again!!
Been trying to check the connections at the module to see if "fiddling" with them helps. Thought maybe a little push on a faulty solder connection might make something "click" just long enough to get ride of the light, and then atleast I'd have it narrowed down. Anyone ever had trouble with the connector on the diff. mounted speed sensor? My 2 wire weather tite plug end seems as though it has alot of "radial play" where the wires seem like they should be molded in the connector solid. I been contemplating cutting the connector and splicing something right to the sensor... Any thoughts? Worth a try or just wrecking a good plug?
unless the plug is corriodeed or you have a broken wire inside of it sounds like you will be wasting a good plug i work on large trucks abs systems all the time but have never messed with my expo abs system if you do decide to cut the plug out and splice wires together make sure you use enviromental splices if its not inside the cab or it will just give you more problem down the road good luck
I only think about doing this because I am wondering if there is a broken wire inside of the connector. It seems like there is an awful lot of movement for two wires inside the plug end to not have one of them pulled apart. THANKS for the advice again!!!! I'll save it for a "later resort", as to not wreck anything I don't need too.
Found a garage reight across the street from my new employer that says they can scan the ABS computer for $40 and will apply that towards repair if I have them fix it! That is the best deal in my area by quite a bit, i may give them a try.
Found a shop that scanned my ABS computer and found "open loop to pump". They say for sure this means a new pump is needed. Couldn't that also be a bad connection at the module as stated earlier here???? Any other remedies to try before the $1400 pump replacement???
