From: I'm lost somewhere in NJ -- can someone please find me?!?!?!?
I store mine outside. Upside down or sideways (to prevent water from accumulating in it). In the winter, I use my compressor to blow the air out of my hoses while they're still on the hose reels, put the reels in large garbage bags, and cover them with a wheelbarrow. There are enough tools, machines, bicycles, etc. in the garage that I don't want to add wheelbarrows to the mix.
I saw something like http://www.liteladders.com/seasonal/storaway.asp on "This Old House" or one of those shows. Seemed like a nice way to store them to me, but I just don't have enough wall space in the garage, so outside is where they go!

LOL!!!
I just stand it on end. No worries about rust, it's a rubber one...
Lean it up against the side of the shed, and forget about it till I need it. It's been working for 20 years or so, never even thought about getting any fancier with it.
Oh man HerbertKornfeld, that's a bummer. Your probably lucky a mirror wasn't all she took off. My friends wife was backing out of their garage a few months ago with an SUV and took out the center divider wall of their two car garage. They are lucky the garage didn't fall in.
Are you going to make her fix the mirror? Get out the duct tape!
