Just ordered my F250!...question on truck specs
I'd like to start out by saying that this site rules! After spending a vast majority of my time these past two weeks on this board, you've helped me order the perfect truck for my needs. You're questions and comments have been more insightful than the dealership. There isn't a question or concern out there that can't be found on this board (except for the one below, of course)! Man, this site is addictive. Thanks much.
Now, on with my question: I just ordered a F250 4x4 V10, SC, SB, 6spd, dark highland green from the factory a couple days ago (man, these next 6-8 weeks are going to be hell). I did have a question, though, as I may want to make an addition to my order. I like the feel of riding higher up, and was wondering if there are any factory options that would fill this need. Would adding the Camper Package or the Heavy Duty Suspension Package give height to the truck (rear or front or both)? I've also heard that the F350 sits about 2" higher due to 4" blocks rather than 2" (sidenote: are these just rear blocks or do blocks come in the front as well?)...can I install 4" blocks once my F250 arrives? I'm considering adding a lift in the future, but only after the warranty is up, so I want the tallest factory optioned F250 available. Thanks for any insight you all may have.

Just ordered my F250!...question on truck specs
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Apr-02 AT 05:49 AM (EST)]I have an 02 f250 with the following that I ordered.
F250 sc sb 4x4 v8 6sp.
offroad pkg
8800 gvw pkg Heavey springs 2" blocks in the rear
Snow plow pkg 5200lbs springs in the Front
This combination sets the truck at the same HT as the f350.
also the truck sits level
and looks like it has a lift in it.

Other people might have some more to add
Oh I'm glad you got your info from us all ,we aim to help our fellow FORD owners.

I have the plow package on mine and it really sits up there. I ordered it to actually plow with. (I live in New England and it "used" to snow here) What does the off-road package add as far as height of the truck? I thought it was just skid plates and a "off-Road" decal. Mine sits so high as it is that I'm installing cab steps this week. What I don't understand is that before I ordered my truck I tried one out that my dealer had on his lot. It was an F250 4x4 and it didn't sit nearly as high as mine. I don't mind the extra height at all, but it's hard to believe that the plow package at $70.00 adds that much to the suspension. Great truck and the plow package is a great extra to add.

You are correct, the Off road package is only the skid plates.
The plow prep package gives you springs that are about 3" taller in front which almost level the truck.
I too plow with mine.

I ordered the plow package and wanted my dealer to trade the 2" blocks for the 4" blocks after it came in which he said they could do easily but he also suggested that I take a look at it and try it out first because I might not like "the *** end jacked up that high". I checked it out and there's no way that I would let them screw with it. It sits really high and almost level. The back sits just slightly higher than the front and it looks great. The 2 inchers can be traded for the 4 inchers by using longer U bolts, but I suggest you do the same as I did and check it out first. Good luck with your truck

Not to steer this thread in the wrong direction, but I bought a used 250 which has what looks like a plow package and it noticably higher than other 250 4X4's, and it has the 4x4 decals, but no skid plates over the steering mechanisms. Is this normal? Can I buy a skid plate for up there?
Thanks

I put a Sno-Way plow on my last truck and will be getting another for the F350 I just ordered. These plows represent the utlimate in engineering. They have a unique design since there is no chain to lift the plow. Their unique linkage and lack of a chain means that they don't bounce when you drive over bumps the way other plows do and that they can exert "downpressure". Downpressure is great for back-blading, since the blade digs in even though the bottom of the blade is angled the wrong way. I often use it during forward plowing too. Sno-Way just came out with a new model that uses wireless remote control. This means that you don't need to run wires up into your cab and that you can adjust the height of the plow while your out in front lining up the pins. They also look cool since they use an ultraheavy duty frame with clear plastic for the blade. The entire unit comes off when you un-pin it, so you don't have to drive around with the plow-lights and pump on the front of your truck. I'm not a salesman, just a very satisfied customer who once had a Meyers plow and is now hooked on Sno-Way. Check them out at; http://www.snoway.com/predator.cfm
