Any reason a Honda didnt make the list? Im just wondering. I have yet to find an atv to rival them. Out of the two choices give, I would go with the Yamaha. I have never been a fan of Suzukis, and dont know ANYONE who rides one.

I prefer the Kodiak because of experience with them and the ability to shift in and out of 4x4. BUTTT, Honda may has changed that feature since I last looked at their website. Every Yamaha that I have experience with has been thrashed and ALWAYS came back for more. Just my $0.02.

I might as well give my input, seeing as it is close to the bikes you are looking at. I have two '00 Honda TRX450 Foremans, and I love the hell out of them. Electronic, thumb activated shifting and a great powerplant...mmm. The only negative aspect of it is that I cant unlock the front end posi...(stock that is, there is a product that you can purchase to accomplish that). So once again, my vote goes for the Honda.

I have and old 93 fourtrax Honda that I bought new, it has been absolutely flawless in those ten years. I think they are built tougher to be more reliable than most. Others may be less money and more frills, but when your off road, reliability is what it's all about.

You have to go with Honda. They absolutley own the ATV department in Utility ATV's. They will out last any other manufacturer by 10 years easily. I have a 2002 Honda Foreman 450s. 2x4/4x4 switch, Traxloc front diff. I love it...wouldnt trade it for anything. Go with the Rancher 400 AT. 100% improvement over the older Rancher 350. Has the Hydromatic transmission so there is nothing to wear out and its completely sealed inside the engine cases so no water can get to it. You get the best of both worlds with that tranny. You get to shift throught the 5 speed tranny on your own...or go fully auto whenever ya want. If I'm not mistaken, It also has the 2x4/4x4 switch which is a must in my opinion. Honda's are bulletproof. I have over 3400 miles on mine without a single problem...never left me on the side of the trail, or in the shop. Not even after stripping the oil drain plug out (Guess Im too strong...lol), or taking on 8' jumps....not that I reccommend this on a 600lb machine...hehe

Get the Honda. Although the Honda has not always been the fastest or or most flashy, it has a reputation for reliability that other brands simply cannot match. I like how they developed a real automatic transmission instead of using a belt drive. I know people who put 3000+ miles a year on their atvs chasing cattle, pulling small trailers and doing ranch work and they have found that Honda four wheelers hold up the best by far. Kawasaki is also a very good brand if you are looking for a budget ride. My dad has a Bayou 4X4 and has used it for ranch work. It got a bad oil leak recently, which is the first thing that has went wrong with it in the 3 years since purchased. We also have an old 2wd Bayou with about 15,000 miles on it. I think that Suzuki ATVs have good engines, but I do not know anyone who owns one. Yamaha has had trouble in the past with U-joints and gears, but I do not know what they are like now.

Go with either the yamaha or honda, I think they are both very good machines. I ride suzuki motorcycles, but have never been impressed with their four wheelers. I personally like yamaha, but honda has always proven to make a very reliable and well built machine. Either way you would have a nice machine.
