Ok, this may sound stupid but, I want to run comp cams cam part COMP CAMS# 33-245-4, 282 duratiion and .571 lift. If I get the recomended springs, ratainers, ect will I have to modifiy the heads or will I be fine if I run the recomended springs.
That all sounds good. The heads not the restrictive part. If you don't already have adjustable rockers, that's probably reccomended.
If you had some odd-ball components (extra tall valve seals etc. or poorly designed arms), you might find some clearance issues. But I think most popular components would work well with the right springs at .571".
Disclaimer: I'm still a bit new to this and could get corrected :-) Although, I'm on the 4th version of valve-train for my FE project.
You might need to cut the valve guides shorter and/or machine for PC type valve stem seals. There may not be enough room between the bottom of the retainer and the top of the valve guide. Easy to fix but make sure to check.
