Question Chapter President

Here is your chance to vote to determine if the chapter will support the formation of a club with a President, treasurer, etc.

I have set the poll to run 10 days and then see where we're at.

I really think the chapter would benefit from having elected members to help organize things. But I will go with the flow either way.

Yeah I think having leaders would help to organize events, too. But if not, it can be worked out.

Here's my thoughts on this. I am for elected officials to manage certain areas and suggest something like the following.

1. The moderater who will watch out over the whole thing and be the link to FTE officials and help keep us in the proper guidelines.
2. President to watch over the meetings, GTG's, and other club activity to ensure they meet and promote our club. (not to be the one setting all up and doing all the work. Just making sure they promote us in the best possible way and keep us in the standards set by FTE and Kansas Chapter)
3.Regional chairmen to help promote our club and chapter in their areas and oversee or watch over the activities and GTG's in their area.
4. All members doing leg work and setting up GTG's and other activities. Both in their region and statewide.
5. Possibly a treasurer to keep club funds for special and club wide activities. This person should probably have not only a regular addres for snail mail donations but maybe something like paypal for online donations.

As you notice I say donations, I don't think we should charge dues (this will discourage some potential members) all monies to the club should be in donation form or thru fundraisers.

I counted over 750 people that have signed in under Kansas so we really need to reach out and keep theses people instead of lettting them register and then leave after asking a question or two. We need to have a structure to keep their attention and make our chapter stand out so they want to keep coming back. This I think will be improved by having a structure that has regional people to be active with their neighbors and local population.

This is just my 2-cents worth so feel free to say if you think I am full a Dodge (oops) I meant ****

Good stuff Rollie,

Maybe after the vote we need to write a charter or something outlining the duties and such like you did above, I think we're off to a excellent start!

I voted yes. I pretty much gave my ideas yesterday. I am for a president, one VP, regional chairmen (how many ever regions we end up with) and a treasurer. I think the system should be as democratic as possible, not just events decided by only a few.

I am most certainly in favor of a written charter. Kind of like our constitution. Something that can't just be changed on a whim by whomever is in power that year. Democratic, not autocratic. I feel like the final rending of the charter should be voted on, at very least by the regional chairmen before it becomes 'law'. It may be time consuming to have every member read it and cast a vote.

It sounds to me like you are all headed in the right direction.. I would say Yes, but I won't vote it as I am not a member of your chapter..

Best of luck...

This is a very good point you bring up hang10. The chapter will need a charter with bylaws. Going forward without it would be a mistake.
