Superbowl disgrace!
Its bad enough the music this guy comes out with ( ok is he a rap "singer", rock star or now he thinks hes a country music artist) is about as tasteless as it gets but now he finds it necessary to pull that kind of stunt. I would hope that those among us who have respect for the FLag and for what it stands for, and all those vetrans who went to war, or guys who served in the military and their families as well as the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice will remember this and not buy his " albums" and he will fade back into the floor cracks of the subsidzed housing from where he came.
Now, on another note..."I would hope that those among us who have respect for the FLag and for what it stands for..."
It stands for freedom. And that's what Kid Rock was exercising - freedom.
Once upon a time it would have been shocking. It's just SSDD now.

Just proves there were more ***** showing on that stage than just J.J.s.
I have never witnessed a show with less talent than tonights half time show....what a waste.
This is probably the most sensative subject in the past 30 years. I have served over 34 combined years in federal service (US Army and government service) with at recent deployment to Afghanistan.
We watched "hippies" in the late 60'3 and early 70's make shirts, pants, shorts, etc from flags and flag type materiel and even burn flags a various "demonstrations".
We watched various "artist" express their "freedom of speech" by defacing the national colors of the greatest nation on earth.
We watch many forgien demonstrators (Iraq, France, Germany, etc) burn and deface our flag as protest for one thing or another.
All these images can make for bitterness and hatred which plays right into the hands of the people who most wish for the failure of our democratic way of life. All these actions generate more patriotic feelings for me because as many veterans and current serving military members lay their lives on the line to protect our way of life it makes me proud to know that our actions give these "seamingly thoughtless" people the right to do this.
With the decay of the American vertues and the actions of so many "liberals" trying to through out "under God" and the "10 commandments" from the Pledge of Alegance and the lobby of public buildings (which are built with the money of tax paying Americans) how can we expect much different from these individuals?
Ok I said my peace Thanks,
That is exactly what WE should do, "Excercise OUR freedom" ...and boycott! ! ! Kiddy Rock showed pure and simple, absolute disrespect for the flag and all it stands for.

Go after the designer & merchandiser that produce that stuff if you have a problem.
I also don't hear you complaining about the people down in Hollywood wearing the Americal Flag as a dress & dragging it across the ground. Are those people exempt from your Boycott.
What about back in the 60's & 70's when they were burning the flag to protest Vietnam.
Why not just boycott freedom all together?
As for kid rock, I feel he is a talented artist & I like his music. But I have the freedom to express my opinion as do you.

#2....Only thing I can do is NOT buy their products, which I don't.
#3....You didn't hear me complain about Hollywood types because the subject was Kiddy Rock...
#4... I served this country. I feel it was an honor and privilege to serve, and the flag represents this. I proudly fly the flag every day in front of my business, in accordance with the guidelines. The U.S. flag is THE fundamental symbol of our freedom. Freedom is also responsibility...which was not demonstrated then (60's or other), or tonight... He exercised his freedom, just like the Dixie Chicks did. Now we should exercise ours, Pretty simple concept. Why in the world would I ever want to support people that I hold in complete contempt?
#5...You like Kid Rock, so be it. I didn't like him before, and like him even less now.
Here's a hypothetical - what if all the United States flags in existance suddenly disappeared, gone, good bye, "poof" done disappeared forever...would this change the way you think about the United States, our national pride, our freedom, our patriotism. Would those things disappear too? No, of course not. Therefore I find it crazy to get all worked up, all frothing at the mouth, with shaking fists, and bulging veins, over someone using the flag for a shirt.
The idea behind the flag, the concept that it represents, is much larger than all of this, and frankly isn't even slightly threatend by anyone's "abuse" of the flag. Don't worship the flag, worship the idea behind it.
That being said, I do believe that proper protocal should be followed when displaying the flag. But, if you want to hang the flag upside down to protest the Patriot Act that's fine with me too (That's just an example. I support the Patriot Act btw).
I think it's silly, and shallow, to let something like this get under our skin.

The flag, it is a banner that is used in times of war to declare victory when planted upon the battle field. Why is it so important for an army to capture it's enemy's flag? To capture the enemy's flag symbolizes victory for those who take it and defeat for those who no longer have it. When an army defeats it's enemy, the first thing they do is take down the banner of their enemy and raise their flag. This has been done in wars fought through out the history of man. An army takes the flag of their country with them into battle. If a flag didn't have such importance or meaning, why does the victor cheer when they see their banner raised over captured enemy terrority? Is it not enough just to capture and defeat the enemy? Why is the flag draped over the coffin of the fallen soldier who gave his life defending it? It has meaning, it has worth. No one understand this more that those who put their lives on the line defending it. It's not just a cloth to be made into garments. Every color, every star represents something. Our national anthem is based upon our flag and the battle for which our country and our freedoms were born. Recite the words to youself.
When we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United Stated of America and to the republic for which it stands, we take an oath to protect it and our country. Those who would destroy our flag by either burning it or cutting it up to make garments would not take such an oath, or do so hypocritically. To protect our flag is to protect our country,. To destroy it, is to wish distruction upon our country which is why our enemy's burn our flag with celebration. When one burns our flag, what difference does it make in which country it is done?
Our flag, a banner in times of war, a symbol of strength and freedom known the world over that representes everything men in this country have fought and went into battle for and some have given their lives for, is something to be cherished. For if you love your country and the freedoms and liberties that our country provides, why destroy the flag it represents? I fail to see how destroying the symbol of freedom for the sake of freedom makes any sense. Once the symbol of freedom is gone, so is your freedom. Like the flag on the battle field when your enemy takes you captive, your flag is gone and your enemy's flag is now in the place where yours once flew. There are many ways to protest, but those who would destroy our flag, our symbol of freedom, are no different than the enemy who wish to destroy it on the battle field.
I suspect that Kid Rock was trying to demonstrate his patriotism by wearing the flag...but since he's a dumb *** he didn' t realize what he was doing was tasteless, tactless and offensive to some people. I can't go beyond that. I bet that Kid Rock loves his country, loves his military, and loves his flag. I think it's silly, and shallow, to let something like this get under our skin.
You pegged it exactly. Kid Rock isn't some anti-war protestor. He was attempting to demonstrate patriotism in his own way. In concert, he has even included "America the Beautiful" while American flag bikini-wearing dancers danced in the background.
It may not be your cup of tea, but I didn't take it as being anti-American and that's coming from a true Conservative, not one of those pantywaisted compassionate conservatives.

When he's in the south, he also brings out the Confederate flag.
As for the prior comment about him throwing off the flag and someone luckily catching it, I'm sure that it was planned that the flag not hit the stage. I'd bet money on that one.
