I have been using restore oil treatment for a few year in my motors with over 100.000 miles, [all of mine right now]. My thoughts have been even if it dosnt help it wont hurt any thing. Since Ive been reading other post on oil additives I am starting to wonder if thats wrong thinking.
what are you thoughts on restore oil treatment?
Or could you link me to other restore posts that i have missed?
It’s not so much about harm but a waste of money. 100,000 miles is not allot of miles like it was years ago. When you have an engine that is not good shape or is having small problems it can’t hurt to try some $3 additive. The problem will either go away or stay there the only thing you chance is your $3.
About the only additive i would use is marvels mystery oil. It cleans out my engine, but the oil velocity seems to be close. I do not have oil analysis or anything. Before i used it, my truck would knock on startup, even with the right oil, and a wix filter. Only has 30K on it, but i got the engine used and it is a chebbie, so did not think much of it. I change my oil and filter, same setup as i always do, and put a quart of marvels in place of one of the quarts of oil, and there is a night and day difference. The motor gets better MPG, starts up without the knocks, quicker oil pressure. MMO cleans your motor instead of gunking it up.
