I have 1997 F150 4.2, I had a friend of mine take the starter off so that I can get it tested. The problem is that he broke of one of the post on the starter. I had to buy a new one. I don't want him to put it back on. So I got under my truck and put the starter back on. My problem is that I don't know where the wires go. I think two of them a red and black will go to the post. One will be crimped to the smaller wire I hope. Can anyone help me with the wiring. Thanks so much. David
Hi mudman216 and welcome to the forum
Did you figure it out yet?
There should be a big red wire that goes to the big post on the solenoid, the small wire goes to the small post and the big black wire goes to one of the mounting bolts.
Thanks for all your help. I just got it all wired, and It starts fine. I found out that the small black wire on the back of the starter, I didn't need. But the truck starts, and that's all I wanted it to do.
So thanks again for all your help. David
