Problem
My serpintine belt keeeps coming off. There is a intermitent noise ( loud Clunking) coming from the left side of the engine. I think either water pump or Alternator. The engine is an 8 cyl 5.8. Any ideas ?

sounds to me as though the belt is being thrown due to a misalignment of a pulley. With the belt removed with both hands grab each pulley and rock to test for play. If you find a component with play investigate weather the play is in the mounting or the spindle. Replace, rebuild, or tighten as nessessary.
