Almost makes you feel like pulling your hair out. All I know is that My service advisor asked me about my truck when I took my wifes EX in for an oil change last week. We were talking about mileage and the bluish smoke that my truck makes on starts. He said that a new flash was out to help with that.
When I took mine in yesterday morning I asked to make sure it was for the 03's and not just the 04's, he called the tech and was told it was for both.
When I picked it up I asked for the WDS # since the guys on Dieselstop.com are always interested too. He called again and was told 29.8 p2.
I don't know what to think anymore, just want the smoke to go away and my mileage back.
it addressed a couple of high altitude hard start and idle issues, turned off the mil for code p2263 ( 49 state only), harsh trans engagment on low milage vehicles, harsh 3-2 downshift and clunk on tip in- tip out in tow haul, and enhanced p0299 and p0500 codes.
Doesn't sound like the mileage performance fix we have been waiting for.
Hmmmm, I bet they will come out with this flash around the time that warm weather hits and diesel switches back from winter to summer blend and we will all think we get super better mileage
Seriously, I hope Ford isn't yanking our chain about this flash. I seriously lost 3 MPG when Ford flash my truck with the October flash from the August flash my truck came with. Less power too. It runs good, I just don't understand where that 3 MPG worth of fuel is going now. I guess out the tail pipe.

Just joined up. Thanks for the link. I will be purchasing a PSD in the very near future and need to find out as much info on the engine/chassis as possible.

WDS is constantly updated, but updates for the 6.0 are not always included. 29.8 P2 may be the latest WDS level, but it may only include the Dec update for the 6.0.

Yes, it includes the Dec flash. Look at it this way, joe blow takes his 6.0 in to get flashed, at the same time jill blow takes her mustang in for a flash. Ford only has one WDS system, the current WDS level is 29.8 P2. Both the 6.0 and the mustang get flashed, they both leave with WDS calibration 29.8 P2.
I knew it would include the Dec flash, I was curious if this flash had anything to do with the 6.0.
Not all flashes will address the 6.0... as you have pointed out and understand. Some think if a new falsh comes out it is for the 6.0 only.
