I've been tempted to get one of those DVDs but either the guy selling them has a suspicious profile, or they are selling for too much... If I *knew* they were a good deal I'd pick one up, but how can you be sure?
I heard that on most of them you have to change the date on your computer to get them to work since they are time locked... I'm guessing there is a special program to view the files, and since I run Linux I guess I wouldn't be able to run it anyways...
What I really want is just a DVD full of PDF images that is searchable... I can read that on any computer...
i dont know if this is what you are looking for, but at my school the auto teacher has a program called shopkey which has service/repair problems and diagrams to fix these problems for hundreds of vehicles. check this program out.
As luck would have it, there is none offered for 1999 trucks. Still, I looked up the cost of factory manuals and the cost of the powertrain alone is 180.00. Ouch! Think I'll look further into these. Thanks for the information.
A '98 Ford Truck Manual would work just fine for a '99 Ranger. They ('98 & '99 Rangers) are identical trucks, save a few minor trim offerings and cosmetic tweaks. I doubt Ford's publisher even edited the '98 Ranger Manual at all when it was time to print the '99 edition. The '98 Manual even has info on the flex fuel stuff in the Powertrain Control/Emissions Chapter(s), which would be important if you have a '99 FFV Ranger.
BTW, for those who care about such things, an interesting summary of the truck's evolution over the years and the different Ranger "generations" can be found here: A Ford Ranger History.
