for anyone who hasn't seen them, they are the best chain system on the market, our fire trucks are running them, and they save time, money, and lives in some cases. with the flick of a switch you can have a set of chains on the ground under your tires. as soon as you feel wheel spin you turn them one and continue.... great if you ask me.
I totally agree!! I have them on my school bus, gotten me up over the hills many times! I'll never buy another bus/large truck with out them. Still wanting to put a set on my ambulance...err installiation vehicle

yeah, all the emergency vehicles around here use them- except the cops. Probably not smart enough. This is the only PD in the country that directly told a guy they wouldn't hire him because he was too smart. Good to know who's in charge.
They are great, we have them on out fire trucks as well. They also are making them for pickups and SUVs. The only problem I have found with them is clearance. We made it a standing rule that we do not cross medians unless it is paved. As you break over the edge, you take a chance of bottoming out the arm assembly. You really take a chance if you get offroad. Also, if they are installed wrong, they will not work as good if you try to use them in reverse.

Those chains saved one of our truckers butts a couple weeks ago. He was driving over Monarch Pass in a snowstorm with a flatbed trailer stacked with PVC drop pipe (for wells). The road was dry up until the top of the pass, then it iced up and was snowpacked. He used those chains (over balding retreads) and made it down without sliding off the road. He took a Polaroid of the road...it wasn't there. All you could see was the delineator posts.
