Big Block Bronco
I was rumbling around through here and just thought I'd post some information on my Bronco. Its a 78 Bronco, tu-tone Metalic blue and off white. I got a 4 inch lift with 35inch street tires. Its been pretty much restored and the interior is pristine. I am running a 429 Cobra jet or Super Cobra Jet, the boys who rebiult the engine couldnt tell me which it was. I am running MSD Offroad ignition, hooker headers, flowmaster exhaust, edelbrock performer manifold, Carter AFB carb. All in all the engine should be putting out close to 450-500 horses with about 10.1 compression I put in 4:11 gears all the way around, with a detroit locker in the rear and Detroit Tru-Trac up front. The transfer case is NP205 that has been gone trough. Basically everything has been redone since I bought it, except for the transmission, which now seems to be going out, aint that the way it goes. SO now with cost of the vehicle included, I am sitting at about 18,000 invested, still got the tranny left, and a new paint job, then she;ll be finished (Probably Not!)
Any questions or comments about my rig? Feel free to ask or remark.

Well thanks for the compliment, ya I love that damn truck, I'll love it even more when I am dont with all the major money work in it.
As for the tire, they're just generic street tires, I am trying to save up some money for mud tires, I am thinking about going with some Super Swampers.
As for the mudding end. Oh ya, I have done it all and gotten what I have put out of it. I have gone wheelin with that thing whenever I could, and whenever I could have repaired the damage done, anything from rock climbing, rivers, and all out mud holes. Amazingly with the street tires, I have never been stuck with the thing, and I have pulled out more than my fair share of Chevys and Jeeps. SO I got no complaints there.
My next upgrades are to re- route the flowmaster exhaust so it comes out in from of the rear tires on both sides, and I read the article in here on that AOD transmission, well one of those will eventually end up underneath.
Your buddy sounds like he's got a nice running rig too. I definitely love the hell out of it. But dang, 14 mpg, I could only dream of that, I am getting more like 8-10 on a good day, but I aint going to complain. But one thing I can say, is I love racing all the Jap Crap in town, I take them every time, while there back at the light trying to find thier traction, I am long gone down the road laughing.

I own an 1979 Bronco Ranger XLT with the rare Free Wheeling package (stripes now gone). I know the complete history of this Bronco. I have everything that comes with the Bronco when it was new (window stickers, warranty card, all the phalaments. It isn't a show winner, but I don't want that, anyway. My Gallery has my Bronco in it.
