That is a later badge, looks like middle '70s. It is definitely someone's idea of a bad joke, and I hope you were not hurt by it.

Not hurt. I did not even realize the badges were on the trucks when I bought them. Each was purchased over two years apart. I still don't understand how each one had the same emblem in exactly the same place. What about the part number? Doesn't this indicate a 62 part?

I'll check my dennis carpenter catalog tonight (there is a great part number decoder in the front). Is the number C2DB64017A05? [trying to read]

if I read that number right, and if I held the dennis carpenter magic decoder ring *JUST SO*, it appears your emblem is off a 1962 falcon. which seems very strange.

now I'm really confused. This emblem is cast pot metal and says XLT on the front. Something's rotten in Denmark. I know of no Falcon that was designated XLT. Could this is a vendor/supplier error? Still doesn't explain how both trucks have the same thing in the same place.

Was over at Slick 60s and there was a post to EBAY # 2459752457. I looked at it and by golly it looks like a there is emblem on door!!!!!
