This weekend I took the rig on it's longest trip of it's short life. It was about 180 miles each way. I was towing nothing and had cruise set on about 70 the whole way. I forgot to check mileage on the way down until I had already done about 60 miles of in town driving but I still got 13.93 MPG. On the way home I got 15.12 MPG all of which was highway except about 15 miles. Is this good, bad, or average for a V10??
BTW..I got some new pics of my Billet grill that I installed last night..http://photos.yahoo.com/cbsuperduty
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-May-02 AT 12:40 PM (EST)]Sounds about like mine. My best mileage was a 200 mile run on the freeway at 15.9 mpg. My worst about 9.4 mpg towing a 5,100 lb. trailer.

And I thought I was the only one getting a whopping 7 MPG.
I think I feel a little better now.
I could probably get a mile or so more if I did'nt have the heavy foot.

Just so we don't scare the heck out of anyone, most of the guys getting 7mpg have HUGE tires and lift kits. Us factory low-riders are getting somewhat better MPG... around 11 city / 15 highway.

That's true! I actually get 7 to 8.5 city. I have 36/14.50/16 tires, 4.56 gears, headers, chipped, MAS etc. Tends to cause me to be a little to lead footed to often.
i'm new to the game here, but you guys are amazing me with these figures. i own a 99 supercab long bed with 130,000 miles. i very seldom go under 100 miles a day, mostly being around the farm and average about 11 mpg. the best i've gotten was on a trip from lubock,tx to natchitoches,la and i averaged 18. the worst i have experiened was with a 13,500# load of hay going from lubbock to weatherford,tx and that got me about 6.5 running 60 mph. the only problems i have run into with this hauler was a burned out speed sensor in the rear end and a new tranny at 120,000. i installed a k&n fipk and aftermarket dual exhaust and noticed little variance. what are some other things that yall can suggest to help me increse the over all power and not my pocket book. i was thinking about a 4.30 rear end for the pulling power. i was wondering about a super charger in addition to other possible accesories but am still looking for more info. thanks a bunch!!

The supercharger will give you the biggest power increase... but It is by far the most expensive. I've been wanting to put the Kenne Bell supercharger on my V10, but it's close to 4 grand and I have not been able to part with the money yet.
