He told me for the politics involved, when pressing for a new truck or engine, it would be appropreiate for me to give the dealer (from where I bought it) a shot at the repairs
This effort, on the part of the dealership, is called "curing". It has been legally well established that when a customer has a problem with a product, the retailer/dealership/supplier, etc, has the right to attempt to cure the problem. It is for that reason, it is always recommended that when an issue arises (problem/repair) your first step must be giving them a chance to "fix it".
Well I got the new engine, seems a little weaker out of the shute, think it gets close to the same MPG. Posted the other day that it had a dramatic decrease in MPG. Sorry, it was a calculation error on my part.
T.Smith - Great! I guess you are going to be holding your breath for a while.
The Lemon Law in Texas says that you have to take it back to the dealer for problems 2 times each in 2 consecutive years(4 Total) Then the Lemon Law Judge will assign you to another dealer to see if they can fix it.
This process can take a LONG time. I think we all hope for a good dealer.

What kind of MPG are you getting? My replacement engine (built 1-8-04) got 15 mpg to and from Florida. I had about 200 miles on it when I left and 2400 when I got back. I'm expecting it to come up after the break in. I hope the new guy likes it when he gets it. I'll be busy breaking in the new motor that's coming in the replacement truck......
First tank in new truck was 12.8 MPG, after engine swap first tank was 10.8. That is not good at all, see Ford said this 6.0 gets better mileage than the 7.3. Well I have both, have an 01 7.3 and an 03 6.0, both are F-450 they both have work beds and are loaded pretty heavy with tools. The 01 weighs 11,400 lbs. The 03 weighs 10,300 lbs. The 01 gets 12 mpg. What's wrong with this picture. Oh, the 01 has 6 speed manual, the 03 in automatic.
