New here, have read lots of comments about the 6.0s. Went out and bought me one 01-03-04 F-450 with utility bed, use truck in my business, ladders tools and welder on board weighs about 11,000lb. Loved the responce and milage, lot better than my old 350 with 460 gas-o-holic engine
Sorry, on with the story. The engine flooded with fuel on 01-23-04 took a couple days to get it to the shop (weather) meanwhile I read every post I could and took heed, called FMC, spoke with Johnathan Grimm, expressed my concerns about having a $40,000 truck with 1300 miles and a re-maned engine, told the service manager the same also spilled it to the comercial division sales manager. I was sincere, said I would always be nervous about the truck with a band-aid repair job. He expressed his sympothy and said that was all he could do, per Ford protocall. This was about 3:30 said I can pick truck up around noon the next day. Guess he liked me or something cause he called me back @ 5:00 said if he could keep the truck for (1) more week I would have a new engine and torbo.

Is that the new DJ Ford. That place is awesome!!! I wish I could deal with someplace like that. I do have one of thier license plate brackets on my truck b/c I'm a big DJ fan.
Anyway, as for the engine replacement. There are no re-maned engine available for the 6.0 at this time. New is the only option. BUT, To swap the engine they have to take the whole front of the truck apart meaning the AC system, coolers, headlights and wiring, etc. When I say my truck I nearly pucked. I'm going to push forward for a new truck. The yahoos in Kentucky build them every day and the yahoos in Poughkeepsie NY only do it when they have to so I don't feel comfortable with this "replacement"
And Thanks to my dealer, Dale Jarrett Ford in Monroe, NC...
From my perspective, you presented the perfect approach....congratulations.....and, of course, compliments to the staff at Dale Jarrett Ford in Monroe, NC..
Just a thought..........NO, statement of Fact.......
Alfie: Man don't scare me any more than I already am, I'm nervous as a ***** in church about the whole thing. But will not give up, I know Ford has their _ _ _ _ together in the truck line, got to give um a chance to make it right.

Got my truck back last night. So far everything seems to run right but there are problems. The readiator has coolant dripping off of it all over the place. I know this may be some spillage but they also detailed my truck before they gave it back to me so why is it still there? And, this one really ircks me, the headlights are put back in wrong and are aimed about 50 foot ahead fo the truck on the ground. It's very simple to put them back in right, why wasn't it done?
PS - I sent the letter to Detroit yesterday it said "I want a new truck".....
I know what you are saying about taking the whole front end off to replace the engine. I know the mechanics are paid on a piece rate type pay, so they are under the gun to finish one job so they can start another. Therego they make more money. Your truck may suffer from this system. Wonder if they will have any parts left over

With my truck already over the 30 day mark it's a lemon. Everytime I bring it back it's more ammo for me when I go to the DSB or the Attorney General. I know I'm just waisting my time taking it back but in the end I think it will work out for me.
Well I hope the new engine works out, I am no exception here and like so many others I NEED MY TRUCK! That is my life-line to my livelyhood. If it goes sour I want a new truck
Thanks for the info
Just because you bought it at a specific dealer doeasnt mean you have to have it serviced at that deeler. I bought my truck 60 miles away from home and there must be 15 deelers in that radius. i just shopped for good service closer to home and so far I am happy.
so far I am happy with the dealerships' service department. The service department at the place I purchased the truck is a joke. They wanted me to leave my truck overnight so they could do the flash. the service manager said the tech doesnt want to get burned by the hot engine when he does the flash. I was like ya right sure I'll call you when hell freezes over.
I am also very happy with the truck, but I only carry a camper on it diring the summer and have not hauled any heavy loads yet.
Yukon:
I know I can carry it else-where, and to be perfectly honest I personally know the Chief Mechanic in the truck shop at another dealer, and would put him against the people that built/designed the thing. He told me for the politics involved, when pressing for a new truck or engine, it would be appropreiate for me to give the dealer (from where I bought it) a shot at the repairs. I am almost 100% sure this will be a short term trial. My buddy will be working on my truck in the future. Because I have trust in his skills.
Thanks for the in-put.
