Check Engine light and sensor codes
Hey again... My check engine light's on, and I'm due for an emissions test, so I want it off!
These are the codes:
P1443
P0401
P0402
The last two, I think, are due to a bad EGR valve... But what about the other one?

Ok, I found the codes. But, I'm not sure really what to think of that EVAP canister thing. Anyone wanna help me out with this?

The 1443 is a problem with the EVAP system, I think the valve is a common problem. The EGR problem could also be the DPFE sensor. Check out the tech info post for more on the ODB-II codes and a link abot the DPFE.

The DPFE sensor will not fix the 1443, the 1443 is an EVAP code not an EGR code. The purge valve is one of the common causes but the code list will give you some more possible causes.
I'm not sure what you scanner will do, I guess it depends on the make/model.

I had the 1443 on my 95 Ranger last week. When I pulled the electrical plugs on the valves (there are two on my truck-not sure why) one connector was wet and oily. Cleaned it, cleared the codes and haven't had any problems. Check the electricals before replacing parts. Might work for you too.

FYI: Last night when I pulled the codes, I also reset the computer. As of yet, the check engine light hasn't returned. Will codes show up without causing the light to come on? Should I pull codes again anyway?
