I am having my 56 F100 painted Grabber Blue like the 70 Mustang Mach I color. The paint code on the Mustang is listed simply as "J". When I look up the paint code on Sherman Williams' web site, they list a manufacturers code of M3657A,J.
My question is do I tell the painter 70 Mustang Code J, or do I tell him the manufacturers code? Is the manufacturers code just for Sherman Williams? Any advice would be appreciated before I deliver the next load of fenders, etc to the body shop.
Ask your painter but the code J is likely what he'll need Depending on what brand of paint he uses the manufacture # will differ. Work with him so there no misunderstandings in the end
The painter will likely just need to know "1970 Ford J code" since he will be using a certain brand of paint. Each paint company converts that code to thier own code.
Grabber Blue (J) code:
Valspar = L2958
PPG = 2230
