I have 40’s and they are fairly loud in the cab. The 50’s are supposedly quieter and do not give much cab noise. Check out the exhaust forum. There are lots of threads comparing different exhaust systems.

if you don't want the exhaust to resonate in the cab, go with magnaflow. i just had mine put on earlier this week, and i love it. at highway speeds the magnaflow quiets down real nicely.

I have a 40 series flowmaster that is turned down (dumped) about 9 inches after the muffler. It is never loud in the cab. At idle you can't hear it, but when you get on it, it wakes right up.

True 4.2 I was just wondering, what's the purpose of having your Flowmasters dumped so close to the muffler? Is it for looks or for sound?

I like the sound much better. Plus, I'm a racing street truck kinda guy. Dumping the pipe directly after the muffler loses your weight quite a bit as compared to running true duals or something to that effect. Plus, it gets you just as much power at about 1/3rd the cost.
