how do i get the ignition switch out of my dash? i tried sticking a lil peice of wire threw the hole but didn't work, any suggestions. its a 1979 f250 4x4
thanks
It is easier (at least for me)to unscrew the outside ring off and pull the entire unit out of the dash and unplug the wires. Then do as Dennis said to remove the actual "key" ignition.
yea, i have the entire dash out, i'm trying to start my truck and i just want to be able to take it out of the dash and leave that part plugged in so i can try and start it. and another question is, i'm not getting any spark, what you guys think that prob is ground?
You need to verify power at certain location before you yank out the ignition switch.
Starter relay
*I* circuit on starter relay
Power at coil + terminal
Signal at coil - terminal
Power at Modulator
Signal at Modulator
Spark at Coil
Spark at plug wires
Spark @ sparkplugs
well i did a down to frame restoration. i just left the motor on it though didn't rebuild it. i put the cab back on and now i'm not getting spark or anything. i just set the dash up their for the time beeing and pluged in the ignition switch and thats not even making it turn over or anything at all. so what do you think it could be then? the battery is hooked up and i'm not getting spoark at the plugs haven't had time to look anywhere else yet
thanks
