Hello I have lurked here but never posted....and now I am asking for some help. I own a 95 F150, I have been driving it all day, started fine three times, went out to start it again, it turned over and then died. Attempt to restart, cranks but no fuel? I have had no problems with stalling or hesitation etc... the truck has run overall just fine. Thanks for any suggestions. I am "stranded" in my office parking lot, blah....Just when I thought I might have the afternoon off.
p.s. the exhaust just came off a week ago from catalytic to tailpipe, the catalytic converter is still attached if that counts
p.s.s. it is cold, snowy, salty-slushy here too if that helps
Give us more, what engine, how many miles, any mods, and have you been getting any check engine lights recently?? Also it is going to be tough to fix over the internet. There are too many things that could be wrong.
If you are going to fix it yourself, you should get a haynes/chilton manual.
My first impression would be bad coil, or something simple like a bad distributer cap or water in cap.
Be careful if you haven't been under this hood yet, everything is controlled electronically by onboard computer, and you should systematically evaluate your problem.
Thank you all for your assistance. It is below 0 F here so I decided after freezing too much, to have the "shop" give me the diagnosis.
The engine is 302, 130k miles, and no previous problems. I had a full tuneup 2 yrs ago. I am thinking it might be the no spark issue(?) Will post an update. thanks again.
Woah... That sounds way over priced to me. Fuel pump should only be around 150, sparkplugs should run about what maybe 15 bucks, fuel filters are 25 max, cap 30 max, rotor 10 bucks, and wires 30 bucks max.
OK I get a total of parts to be under 300 and that would be buying the top of the line stuff. You can't tell me labor is going to cost nearly $600 bucks?
I would think twice before returning to that shop. that is a high price. You probably just needed a pump, and that shop threw away perfectly good wires, plugs, and distributor parts.
See what the consensus is here, and print out the replies and show them to the shop. Maybe we can shame them into refunding some money, sorry.
