i dont see y they stoped puting them in the f-150's. i think it is 1 of the best moters ever made. i have had mine for 3 years [drive the hell out of it] and i aint had 1 problem with it!!
it probably wasnt trendy enuff.like leaf springs and solid axles.they had to be updated for the civilized people not for offroaders.lol had to go with throw away motors wit that aluminum crap.im a good ol iron lover.
the last year they stopped was in '96 for 1/2 ton, and '97 for 3/4 and 1 tons. That wannabe car front end was too small for the Big 6. I also hear they couldn't make it meet tougher emmssions standards.
I work for the Airlines at Detroit Metro Airport and all of our ground equimpment ( tugs and beltloaders) have the 300 in them. Im pretty sure that we still get brand new 300 in our equimpent. They only have the 1BBL carb though. I think ford still might be making these engines brand new for industrial purposes like this. Fred

i think it would have been easier to make the front end a quater inch bigger than designing a whole new engine. if they are designing the truck from scratch they can make it fit whatever they want.
2 things about the second statement.
-what good is slightly better emmissions if you burn more fuel. i get way better gas mileage than my dad's 4.2 V6.
-i think with the manpower it took the engineers at ford to design a whole new engine they could have done wonders w/the 300.
i agree w/jigman. it seems the new trucks are targeted towards businessmen. lets see: no manual tranny offered and a starting price of 22k. they should just go ahead and stamp a mercedes emblem on there. i saw at the auto show a base model toyota tundra for 14k. thats what a base model truck should be. who wants to spend over 20k for a work truck.
