There is a very strict procedure that is to be used and has been updated in a TSB for techs when they reflash. Part of the procedure is to cycle your glow plugs (ignition) on and off several times when reflashing.... due to the high voltage drain of the glow plugs a battery charger is to be connected at all times to ensure 100% to the system.
If the system drops off... or goes dead, the "system" can not properly learn the new "flash".
After having mine done for the December flash, my ticket actually was written that the flash took, and was re-checked and verified. The tech even billed (under warrenty) for his time to re-verify the new flash....
I am satisifed with the new December flash and like the Tow/Haul adjustments. Mileage is off, but hey it's January and I am running 2D with Power Service Anti-Gel and the outside weather is 10F to 20F here in Kansas City. If I were my truck, my mileage would be off too!!!
The same proceedure with the preditor. The average mechanic must have trouble the first time or two. I've had trouble where I had to start over. I always start with a warm engine to minimize the glow plug voltage drop. I wonder how many are taking short cuts with Ice cold engines.
The coldest for us this year has been +20 deg. for a few hours. At what point do I need a diesel additive?
Oh man, you switched subjects. Now people will get confused.

You are getting "winterized" fuel. I am using Stanadyne performance formula that I bought off the net up in your area. I started using it in December and will use it up through March.
pocobueno, do you know when the vendors start with "winterized" fuel and when they stop?
See a lot of ADD around here??
Thanks SBV45, I will ask my dealer / service tech. The dealer where I bought my truck is "State of the Art" Dale Jarrett Ford,
I'm not sure the mechanics are up to speed on this new technology. Not giving up yet.
Thanks Guys
