i know to some it doesnt sound like much, but i bench pressed 265 pounds 3 times tonight. that was after benching 245 6 times, 225 8 times before that. so its a record for me.
my goal its to put up 300# 2-3 times by summer, and hopefully 350# by 2005. of course, im still on my attempt to gain weight though. id like to be @ 205-210 if possible, but right now im stuck at 185 pounds ( im 6'1") at one point i was at @ 200#'s but lost that when i started working Tree Removal and got sick one time. anyways just had to share that
anyone want to add their goals/records ?
also, can anyone tell me what muscle group the LAT PULL DOWN works?
mcdev- maybe you can answer this for me- ive been splitting up my workouts, insted of every other day i working out daily. triceps one day, biceps the next day basically.
is it ok to do all my bench pressing, shoulder shrugs, military press, tricep extensions, one day,
then to do dumbell/barbell curls, dumbell rows, lat pull down the next day?
or have i been mixing up some of the muscle groups ?
I'd lift weights except they are too heavy! Seriously, after moving furniture that weighs a bunch up and down stairs all day, I just can't bring myself to get back into lifting. I wonder what the equivalent poundage/ reps a 350lb dresser going up three flights of stairs would be?
when i was working out years ago, before i quit i benched 345 and curled 154. then i relized my neck muscles were making me look like arnold so i quit working out.

Knobby - i do tree removal. even after 10 hours of that some nights ill still force myself to go to the gym. i think its become a mental thing, i feel like im letting myself down if i dont go. i think ive created a monster within myself... i may never be satisfied, but its changed me for the better.
That great, but don't neglect your lower body. Great upper body strength is nice but it looks funny if your legs are to skinny. Balance it out with squats and calf raises. I'm trying to get to 2 times my body weight on the bench. I have a bit to go yet, I weigh 245 lbs. I'm 6'5". I can get 400lbs for two though so 90lbs left to go.
BigDmizer- my lower body work out is doing Calf Extensions @ 290 pounds, 3-5 sets of 10. i dont dare do squats, if my knees go just slighty the wrong angle, they can lock up ( extremely painfull ) and i definantly dont want weights on my shoulders in case my knees lock up/
02PSD4me- im 21.
OPIEWAN- pretty impressive. i dont think you should have quit just cause you looked like Aaahnold. the most i can curl ( full sets ) is 125. i hate it though cause my biceps and forearms dont look very muscuar from the front.
After many surgeries I can say that squats are just completely awful for your body. I hope that all guys who do serious squatting wiil have regular checks of their knee and attending ligaments. Way to go on the weight!
every day i set a personal record of the number of succesive days ive lived... despite being married with teenaged kids..
as for working out the only dumbbells ive ever picked up were in bars
last night i dang near burnt myself out doing curls for @ an hour with weights between 95 and 130 ( short bar bell )
and tonight i warmed up really good before bench pressing, 185 12 times, 205 10 times, 225 8 times, then 265 3 times ( record from the other day ) and i put on 275 pounds, put it up once really well, then halfway up the second time before my spotter needed to help me. i feel so good now about it, my goal before summer is to bench 300. i think i can make that happen.
i might take a couple days off now to let myself heal a bit
I am not an expert on weightlifting, but yeah it sounds like a good regiment you have going there, but like someone said before do some leg work as well. Squats and leg curls are always good... also, if you can do some regular pull downs, they are good for for the triceps and shoulders. One more thing, cardio is huge... I like jumping rope, great for conditioning and reflexes, I swore by it when wrestling in high school.
