Alright, let's just say IF, not that I will, but IF a guy wanted to put a limited slip in the frt diff of an '02 F250 SD, would I be correct in that it is a Dana 60, 10 bolt, 9 3/4" ring gear? Anybody know the number of splines on the axle and what make would you guys recommend? Thx. Not that I'm gonna, but just in case
I'm not sure but I believe on the F250's the front diffs are Dana 50's. On mine it is, but mine is a 1999 model. I thought the F350's got the Dana 60 front diff.
It's a Dana 60.
Your best bet IMO would be an air locker.
L/S front diffs aren't the greatest in low traction steering.
What I mean by this is that on the road in slick snow or ice if there isn't enough front tire "bite" to make the front diff slip when turning then both axles will rotate at the same speed and the truck will tend to want to go straight:-staun even with the wheels turned. With the air locker the diff will be open when unactivated and will steer better in snow and stuff. Then when you really need it,like offroading or getting out of a jam,you just flip the switch and lock the axles together.
I hope this makes sense.
I'm not the best at tech.explanations.
