We are having a mini sleet/ice storm here and all the police are asking everyone to stay off the highways. The news camera people are showing the accidents , and the majority of them are suv's. I think suv owners may be over estimating their vehicles capability in bad road conditions , and not aware of the fact that a 4 wheel drive doesnt mean squat, on a sheet of ice. my two pennies ,
I heard on the news you guys were were having some nasty weather down that way.Sometimes cold weather doesn't seem quite as bad lol.good luck with power outages and things.
We rarely have snow here (I've been working in the yard in a T-shirt), but sometimes we have ice storms and no one has a clue how to drive on it. It is funny to watch.

Its 6:45 pm here and still sleeting, we have about 3/4 in of ice on the ground now. We still have power, the police just cant seem to convince people to stay off of the roads. Its supposed to get to 40 deg f by the a.m .tommorrow and turn to just rain. Its not supposed to be anything like the one here in Feb. 03, that was awful, we had no power for 5 days and massive tree damage back then..
Im in NC and I have about an inch of solid ice on my truck. I dont know what happened, Yesterday it was 72 degrees and sunny. Oh well i have a two hour delay at school and still hoping for a cancellation.
They have closed the draw bridges around here. But it was fun doing donuts in the parking lot after i got off work.
I got lost on the way to girls house last night. I had to turn around several times; Donuts every time. lol
And also found out my truck has a governor at 97-98 mph???
well here in iowa its snowing pretty good and blowing hard, i dont think ill be going anywhere tonight or tomorrow unless its to the shop to work on my truck.
I had to head back to Lincoln for school. Snowed last night after it did a little freeze rain. Got close and saw a Dodge caravan out in the MIDDLE of a CORNFIELD. That took a lack of brains . Then as I went to exit the four lane onto the highway, it's one of them almost circle jobbies, 20mph rated, I saw three sets of tracks going off the edge . How stupid are people? Highlight of the trip though was almost having a cop rearend me at a stoplight.
Here in NJ, I generally avoid the highways during ice/snow. It's not the weather itself.. it's the drivers. Usually when there is a pretty bad snow storm, most of the traffic will go whatever the safe speed is.. but there is ALWAYS some moron in an SUV who thinks he's invincible in his $70,000.00 Escalade and blows by you going 70 when the rest of the drivers are going 20.
