front end thump
my 01'sd cc w/17k is starting to make some weird
front end noises. when i turn the wheel left it makes a
snapping noise and at the same time i can feel a thump
in the d-side floor board.ive checked the torque on the
the trailmaster shocks and it seems good.Is it the bushings on the sway bar or are the notorious ball joints starting to go.
this new problem doesnt surprise me, my truck seems to exibits all the trade mark sd probs.piston slap,wont turn with brakes applied,soft paint, body panels out of align.Too bad could be a great truck.

Ditto here. My SD has recently started the "thumping noise" too and it sounds like it is right beneath the driver's side floor board. I've been under the truck and everything seems as though it's tight so maybe someone else has figured it out 'cause I don't like it.

If they're 4x4's Chk the trackbar bushings and body mounts
trackbar is becoming common.
2wd chk ball joints and body mounts
with flexing in the truck the body mounsts tend to resit the flex
and cause a pop or thump,fix was, is to retourque to specs,or some have opened the hole up around the bolts in the sheet metal.
Just whats been circulating here.

What you hear is is in the ventilation system.It's a vent door it makes noise when it is activated apparently when vacum builds after startup.
