I am converting my 66 f100 to an 88 5.0 efi. I plan to eliminate the smog pump on the engine and just use the replacement pulley. This is the only thing I plan to change from stock. Will deletion of the pump cause any probelms for the operation of the remaining system?

The smog pump is the heart of the air injection system. If you take it off, take off all the other parts related to air injection, with one exception. I would leave the tad and tab solonoids (they just have to be plugged in electrically, they don't have to function) so that the computer doesn't turn on the check engine light, or have a constant code.
I would leave egr functioning (it's independent of the smog pump system), but that is just my personal opinion. If connected, but blocked off, the computer thinks that the engine is receiving exhaust gases, and leans out the fuel trim to compensate. If there's no pump, get rid of the air injection tubes running to the back of the heads and the cat as well, since they do no good without air being pumped through them.
Thanks, again. That is the way i was going to run the system. I got bolts and threaded them into the back of the heads. It is a 66 so will not be running cats.
