My 2001 Supercrew 4x4 has the ABS indicator light on. I had it
scanned and the 1095 code was extracted. I believe this code relates to the ABS control module or pump. Does anybody know how much work is involved in changing these. I realize that it does involve disconnecting lines and bleeding. How hard is it?
The dealer says between $500-$600. Can anybody help?
A C1095 means you have a faulty pump motor or a problem with the wiring to it. Have you checked all the fuses?
If the pump motor is dead it isnt really hard to replace but it does take a while.
Dear Racer: I looked at the wiring and found that the power wire (red one) going to the round motor on the radiator side of the abs pump was corroded. The wire broke completely when I touched it. It broke off about 1/4 of an inch from the round pump motor. I was able to solder and heat-shrink it. It isn't the best looking job because of space constraints, but the ABS is functioning as normal. My next question is, What is involved in changing just the round pump motor. It looks like there is 2-3 bolts holding it to the pump. Will I have to mess with bleeding, or is it just a matter of unbolting it and bolting a new one on. It looks like to me that the motor is connected to the pump by some sort of shaft or something. If anybody knows if I can just unbolt the motor and install a new one and connect the wiring and have the ABSwork, please let me know. Like I said, the ABS system is functioning normally now, but I am not sure how long my solder job will last. Any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Thanks for letting us know what you found.
I dont think you can get the motor seperately from Ford but maybe you could find a good used one at a wrecking yard. Ford will sell you a complete hydraulic control unit which is what I meant above when I said it isn't too hard to replace.
I've never had the motor off so I'm not sure what is involved but I dont think you'd have to open up the hydraulics at all so you shouldn't have to bleed the brakes.
