I would like to lower my 99 Ranger 4x2. I don't want to go too low but I also want it to be low enough that it's noticable. What are your suggestions. If anyone has pics of different drops that would be great.
I also was wondering whats my cheapest way in doing this. I don't want to spend a ton of money. I heard that air bags is a cheap way of accomplishing this.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a '99 also. Check out my gallery to see what a 3" drop looks like. I used drop springs front and rear with matching shocks. There is some drop off in ride quality (not bad) from stock but handling is improved. Many like bags to lower, but I don't. Bags are complicated, require more hardware, and are subject to failure. Djm has a 4-5" inch kit that features upper and lower control arms . Check out stylinconcepts.com and order their free catalog. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply. Very nice truck you have. I like the 3 in drop.
Hey I was wondering how you installed that billet grill. Did you have to cut the middle of the grill out?
Thanks again.
One problem with lowering truck. You will spend lots of money and cut truck's resale value to NOTHING. But if you own it free and clear go ahead and have some fun but remember if you decide to sell you cut your own throat.
There are lots of ways to custom tweak the truck without hurting your investment so much. I am not against lowering I just hate to see somone ruin a good truck and loose money in the long run. If it is financed your lender if they take possession for whatever reason can really burn you over lowering. I know a kid that lowered a leased truck and cost his family a fortune.l
Thanks for the advice. I've owned the truck for some time now. I'm not looking to sell it anytime soon. I've already added a welded roll pan, shaved the gate handle, sport mirrors, and pained it a black to blue flip flop. So if I do decide to sell it, it will be to someone that wants a custom truck. I think it looks nice now but it just needs that finishing touch and that’s lowering it a little.
Again thanks for the advice I appreciate it much
dandep,
I lowered my '01 with a 2/3 drop from djm. The kit comes with drop coils and a rear axle flip kit. The cost is around 170 and is a good hieght for daily use. The only other thing you may look into with this drop is a set of front upper control arm adjusters to get it back to alignment spec. One thing I did just in case I had to carry anything is that I installed a set of rear air shocks so it doesn't bottem out. Far as the air bags, you'll be spending around 2K for a good setup...I know I've been looking.

The first billet grill I installed required me to cut out the center section. I had an accident which damaged the grill and I replaced the grill and shell which came as a pair that required no cutting. I then cut the damaged grill to fit in the valance. Get a TRUCKIN magazine and check out their advertisers. I'm planning more changes to the rear and will update my gallery then. Good luck and enjoy making your truck one of a kind.
