I'm a new to the forum. I just got a '02 250 crew cab 4x4 v10. I ordered it and missed getting the towing mirrors. The dealer wanted too much $ for the swap so I purchased some online. I was looking at the change and it looks like I need to take the door panel off to get to the plug so that's my first question...how do I take the door panel off? And secondly the small plastic cover covers 2 of the nuts that hold the mirror on have some clips that hold it on...is there a trick to getting those off without damaging them? (I pulled it off using a long screw driver but it when I replaced it is seemed to not fit as snug to the door)
My '99 was pretty easy to take the door panel off. First take off the switch panel where your power windows switchs are, it just pulls up on the end closest to the side mirror the slids out. Once that is out there is a screw under where the panel was, take it out. Then there is a red reflector light on the botton of the door panel, take it off and there is a screw behind it, take that screw out. Then you should be able to just pull straight up on the door panel and it will come off. You will probably have to take the speaker out of the door to get the to wiring harness behind it. As for the plastic piece hiding two of the bolts, it should just pop off and on, at least mine did. Remember, these instructions are for a '99 model Super Duty, I hope they work for you.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Jun-02 AT 09:52 PM (EST)] I installed the trailer tow mirrors on my 99 and it was a piece of cake.I ordered my new F-350 Dually with the regular power mirrors and pulled the trailer tow mirrors off the 99 F-250 and swapped them with the ones from the 2002 F-350.
